館林こいのぼりの里まつり

Last updated: April 12, 2022

Carp streamers and cherry blossoms brighten up the riverside

More than 4,000 colorful carp streamers called "koinobori" transform the Tsuruuda River between late March and early May.

The streamers are traditionally flown around Japan for Children’s Day on May 5, but they decorate Tsuruuda River for more than a month. See them hanging in five spots along the river, where around 650 cherry blossom trees bloom in early spring.

This event is the one of the only festivals in the country where you can see koinobori and cherry blossoms together.
