Scenic hikes and lake views

Mt. Akagi offers beautiful hiking trails with easy access from other parts of Gunma as well as Tokyo. Mt. Akagi is a cluster of peaks surrounding the Lake Onuma caldera, and you can see the calm, deep blue lake from almost any vantage point.

A popular hiking course starts at the Mt. Kurobi trailhead to a lookout at the summit, with panoramic views all the way to Mt. Nikko-Shirane.

Lake Onuma is a popular summer getaway with camping grounds, rental boats, and small inns. Most of the restaurants and cafes are at the south end of the lake, along with the main bus stop and parking area.
