How to Get to Manza

Manza is a popular getaway in all seasons, with onsen resorts, ski areas, and beautiful mountain views. Enjoy hiking in the warmer months and snow activities in winter. Manza is close to Kusatsu and accessible from Tokyo by a combination of shinkansen and bus.

You can reach Manza Onsen in less than 3 hours by train and bus from Tokyo Station. Guests of the Manza Prince Hotel can take a free shuttle bus from Karuizawa Station to the hotel (reservations required). The Hokuriku Shinkansen runs from Tokyo Station to Karuizawa Station in around 70 minutes.

Tokyo Station

You can board Hokuriku and Joetsu shinkansen services at Tokyo Station. To reach Karuizawa Station, you need to take the Hokuriku Shinkansen.

The Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station reaches Karuizawa Station via Takasaki in around 70 minutes. Most seats are reserved. The train fare is covered by various Japan Rail Passes.

The station offers convenient access to destinations in western Gunma, including Manza, Kusatsu, Tsumagoi, and Naganohara by local buses. The Manza Prince Hotel shuttle bus departs from the south exit. If you are staying at a different hotel in Manza, check if they offer a shuttle service. Local bus services to Manza depart from the north exit.

The hotel shuttle bus takes around 100 minutes to reach Manza Prince Hotel, with a stop at Manza Kogen Hotel.

The Manza Prince Hotel offers convenient access to Manza Onsen Ski Resort in winter, and scenic hiking routes in the warmer months. The outdoor onsen baths draw water from the Manza Onsen spring, known for its high sulfur content and therapeutic properties.

If you are not staying at the Manza Prince Hotel, or there are no available seats on the shuttle bus, you can take a Seibu Kanko Bus from the north exit of Karuizawa Station to Manza Bus Terminal, then transfer to a free shuttle bus to the hotel. You can also reach Manza Onsen via Takasaki Station. Take a shinkansen to Takasaki Station, then transfer to a local train to Manza-Kazawaguchi Station. From the station, take a Seibu Kanko Bus to Manza Bus Terminal.

Tokyo Station

You can board Hokuriku and Joetsu shinkansen services at Tokyo Station. To reach Karuizawa Station, you need to take the Hokuriku Shinkansen.

Seibu Kanko Bus local services depart from the north exit of Karuizawa Station to Manza Bus Terminal. The journey from Karuizawa Station takes less than 2 hours. Alternatively, take a train from Takasaki Station to Manza-Kawazaguchi Station, then transfer to a Seibu Kanko Bus service to Manza Bus Terminal (around 40 minutes). There are only a few bus services each day to Manza Bus Terminal, so plan your trip accordingly. You can pay the fare in cash or with a transportation IC card as you exit the bus.

Seibu Kanko Bus services from Karuizawa Station and Manza-Kazawaguchi Station stop at Manza Bus Terminal. The Manza Prince Hotel has a free shuttle service from the bus terminal to the hotel. Manza Nature Center near the bus terminal has rest rooms, information on the area, and a heated waiting area in winter.

From Manza Bus Terminal, it's about 5 minutes by free shuttle bus to the Manza Prince Hotel.
