Pick and eat strawberries fresh from the source
Strawberry enthusiasts will love curating the perfect fruit selection at Strawberry Farm Youichirouen. The farm grows six varieties of strawberries, including the exclusively Gunma Prefecture-cultivated yayoihime strawberries.
The entrance fee includes all-you-can-eat strawberries, so gather and eat to your heart’s content! Elevate the experience with delicious add-ons: blend freshly-picked strawberries into a smoothie, or top off a cream-filled daifuku rice cake with the best-looking fruit.
Strawberry Farm Youichirouen doesn’t shy away from showing its passion for its strawberries. Outside the farm are two strawberry-decorated cars, including a red Volkswagen Beetle. Visitors are welcome to take a commemorative photo and can even ask the staff to sit in the driver’s seat. Travelers just passing through can buy cartons of strawberries to take home. These tend to sell out quickly, however, so go early.
Strawberry picking at Strawberry Farm Youichirouen takes place between late December and early June. The farm is about a 30-minute drive from Ikaho Onsen, making it a great day-trip option for travelers visiting the hot springs town. The farm is family-friendly, with ground-level rows that are easier for young children to reach, a small play area for kids, and a relaxed first-come, first-served system (note that picking may end early depending on availability).
