Stay in a modern masterpiece of art and architecture
After 300 years as a traditional ryokan and then a hotel, Shiroiya Hotel in Maebashi was revived in late 2020 with an innovative design and a focus on art. The hotel was designed by world-renowned architect Sou Fujimoto and features interiors and installations by leading Japanese and international artists, including Leandro Erlich and Jasper Morrison.
Guests can choose from spacious rooms in the Heritage Tower or Green Tower, and enjoy modern cuisine at the RESTAURANT, featuring local ingredients, prepared under the supervision of a Michelin-starred chef. the LOUNGE, the BAKERY, the PATISSERIE, and the BAR MATCHA-TEI round out the dining options, along with an outpost of San Francisco’s Blue Bottle Coffee. There are three saunas for relaxation: a Finnish sauna, a bed-style sauna, and a mist sauna, and each can be reserved for private use.
The hotel staff can organize activities including guided hiking tours, canoeing, or even a private tea ceremony. The hotel is conveniently located in Maebashi’s lively dining and shopping area, with cafes, restaurants, and the Arts Maebashi museum within walking distance.
