Explore ancient Japanese tombs

Kamitsukenosato Museum is an archeological museum located next to the Hodota Burial Mounds, which date back to the 5th century. These tombs have been restored to the state they would have been in when they were first constructed in the Kofun period (200–538).

Learn more about this period of Japanese history in the museum. Its exhibits feature items excavated from the tombs, including replicas of clay figures of humans and animals known as haniwa.
