Your base for a journey into Oze National Park
Kick off an exploration of Oze National Park at Hatomachi Base Cafe & Shop. Opened in August 2025, this rest stop offers everything hikers could need to prepare for their expedition. Located at Hatomachi Pass, one of Gunma’s main gateways to Oze National Park, the facility stands directly in front of the trailhead leading toward the Ozegahara wetland.
Before heading out to the trails, travelers would do well to stock up on essentials at the shop, which sells everything from energy bars and snacks to insect repellent and mobile batteries. Those returning from the park may want to peruse the souvenir section, which houses traditional Gunma treats.
Over at the on-site cafe, the menu includes comforting soba noodle dishes and soft-serve ice cream made from hanamame highland flower beans. Hanamame beans are grown at high altitudes of between 900 and 1,300 meters above sea level. They are a local delicacy and a must-try.
Vending machines, lockers, and other amenities are available at the base. The nearby LUCY Ozehatomachi accommodation, also operated by Hoshino Resorts, provides rooms for overnight stays, though prior reservations are recommended. Visitors should note that Hatomachi Base only accepts cashless forms of payment.
