赤城神社

Last updated: December 21, 2020

A stunning lakeside sanctuary

This impressive vermillion shrine sits on a half-island at Lake Onuma's edge. The red shrine against the deep blue of the lake and the green forests on the mountain in summer is strikingly beautiful.

Akagi-jinja Shrine venerates Akagi Daimyojin, the deity of the lake.

The shrine holds several festivals throughout the year. The summer festival in August features horseback archery and an evening ceremony for placing floating lanterns on the lake.
