Three stone monuments registered in the UNESCO Memory of the World

Three Cherished Stelae of Ancient Kozuke (Kozuke-Sanpi) is the general name for the Yamanoue, Tago, and Kanaizawa stone monuments constructed in southern Takasaki between 680s and 720s. There are only eighteen other examples of stone monuments from the seventh through thirteen centuries still extant in Japan, three of which are these found nearby within Gunma Prefecture.
The writing on these three monuments reflects real-life images of cultural exchange in East Asia, making them extremely important historical artifacts of great value.
They were registered as a UNESCO Memory of the World in October 2017.
