Savor the traditional atmosphere and double-blossom cherry trees
Shiroijuku was once a prosperous castle town. The local residents remember that era during cherry blossom season, when they parade through the town in traditional samurai costumes, along streets lined with cherry trees. Well-preserved Edo period (1603–1868) buildings and a tall, wooden bell tower add to the atmosphere.
Most of the cherry trees here are double-blossom varieties, with fluffy pink flowers like pompoms.
