Cherry blossoms among the castle ruins
The ruins of Numata Castle are dotted with over 200 cherry blossom trees, adding to the romantic atmosphere when they bloom in spring. A traditional wooden bell tower provides a dramatic contrast to the delicate blossoms. At night, around 1,500 paper lanterns light up the area.
A major draw is the Gotenzakura, a cherry tree believed to have been planted over 400 years ago when the castle was built.
